Hello and a very warm welcome to our Year 2 page!
Year 2 is a pivotal stage in your child’s educational journey. It not only builds on the strong foundations laid in Key Stage 1 but also ensures every child is fully prepared for the transition into Key Stage 2.
At Hunningley, we’re proud to offer an exciting, enriched curriculum in Year 2—packed with engaging topics and cross-curricular learning opportunities. While we place great emphasis on academic progress, we also recognise the importance of educating the whole child. Through our comprehensive approach, we teach children about healthy relationships, hygiene, and emotional and physical wellbeing—essential life skills that support them both in and beyond the classroom.
We are passionate about nurturing each individual in our Year 2 family. Our dedicated team works tirelessly to ensure every child makes exceptional progress, and we can’t wait to celebrate their successes throughout the year.

As proud members of the Hunningley School Family, our Year 2 children will:
Become confident, independent problem solvers who persevere through challenge and approach tasks with curiosity and resilience.
Develop a strong sense of identity and self-worth, understanding that they are valued for who they are.
Build high levels of wellbeing while showing empathy, respect, and appreciation for the uniqueness of others.
Take responsibility for their learning and actions, preparing them to thrive in Key Stage 2 and beyond.
Set high personal aspirations and strive to be the best versions of themselves—measuring progress not against others, but against their own potential.
