The curriculum at Bank End and Hunningley Primary Schools aims to prepare children in understanding the world around them and prepare them for the next stage of their education. We want our pupils to be well-rounded members of society with strong morals, emotional intelligence and integrity. The three drivers for our Curriculum are: ‘Powerful Knowledge’, ‘Education with Character’ and ‘The Best From Everyone’.
The design of our wider curriculum is based on the research findings of cognitive science based on metacognition. By the time learners are ready for Year 7, they will have mastered a range of both procedural knowledge (skills) and factual knowledge through repeated low stakes quizzing; opportunities to deliberately practise and careful planning for progression and depth.
Education with Character
Our curriculum is customised to meet the local needs of our learners and to build strong characters and individuals. To have ‘education with character’ at Bank End and Hunningley, the children will learn about the three following principles:
The Best in Everyone
United Learning schools are a group of schools which aims to provide excellent education to children and young people across the country. We seek to improve the life chances of all the children and young people we serve and make it our mission to bring out 'the best in everyone' – students, staff, parents and the wider community. The Curriculum we provide for the children at Bank End and Hunningley Primary School promotes: ambition, confidence, creativity, respect, enthusiasm and determination in every way possible so that every child can truly be their best selves in every way possible.
