Chinese New Year

PicCollageClass 9 have been making Chinese Lanterns and calendars to mark the Chinese New Year.  2016 is the Year of the Monkey, the ninth animal in the cycle.  The next Year of the Monkey will be 2028.  The New Year begins on Monday 8th February and lasts until January 27th 2017.  It is also known as the Spring Festival.  People born in the Year of the Monkey are said to be quick-witted, curious, innovative and mischievous, but it is also believed to be one of the most unlucky years in the Chinese calendar.
