Dream giver setting

Continuing our story of the Dream giver, class 8 had to this week describe the setting of the story using their knowledge of adjectives from the previous week as well as using similes and prepositional phrases to add interest to their ideas.

Describing the Dream giver

This week class 8 have used adjectives to help them describe the mysterious creature called the Dream giver. Using adjectives separated by a comma and then improving their adjectives has helped them to write the description of this character within a narrative story.

Instructions for the chocolate factory

Class 8 have been learning about the various features needed to write a fantastic set of instructions. From our lessons we have then written a set of instructions for a new sweet or bar of chocolate for Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory.

Tesco trip

This week class 8 have visited the Tesco store to find out about sustainability and how different places from around the world are providing food and protecting the environment. We looked at how fair trade is used in some products to achieve better trading conditions and to promote sustainability.

Helping each other out!

In the past few weeks class 8 have been working together in groups to help improve communication, create new ideas and develop a better understanding of lesson objectives as a group rather than individuals. This has resulted in all children involved in the lesson and fantastic teamwork.

Olympic mascots!

To help celebrate the Rio Olympics 2016 class 7 have been designing and then making with clay their own Olympic mascot. Each child had to explain what their mascot represented and how it reflected the Olympic values of friendship, respect and excellence.

Once upon a time…

Class 7 have this week read the fairy tale of the three Billy Goats Gruff to act out and use dialogue within this story. They have re-wrote the story and correctly identified how dialogue should be started on a new line when changing character and how the characters are speaking.
