A letter to parents…

Dear Parents and Carers

As we return from the half term break, I wanted to welcome you all to United Learning. I am delighted that Hunningley Primary School has joined our Group.

United Learning is a group of schools, which aims to provide excellent education to children and young people across the country. We make it our mission to bring out the best in everyone – pupils, staff, parents and the wider community.

Hunningley Primary School is a very welcome addition to United Learning and we look forward to working with pupils, staff and parents. As a part of our Group, the school will be able to share best practice with our schools across the country and staff will benefit from the Group’s wide range of high-quality professional development opportunities. In particular, we are looking forward to building a close relationship between Hunningley and our Barnsley and High Hazels Academies as well as with Worsbrough Bank End Primary School, which also joins our Group today.

We have a flourishing and growing group of primary schools – both academies and independent schools – and we look forward to sharing our expertise with you as well as benefiting from the experience and expertise that Nic Thorpe and her colleagues will undoubtedly bring to our Group.

There is some excellent work underway at Hunningley Primary School and we look forward to supporting you as the school continues to go from strength to strength.

May I wish you all a very happy and successful remainder of the term. Yours sincerely

Competition…

Last week, PCSO Kat McFadzean attended one of our assemblies to set us the challenge of designing road safety posters to be displayed on Hunningley Lane. All the children from Reception to Y6 were given a letter about the competition. Berneslai Homes are providing funding so that the winning posters can be made into street signs and South Yorkshire Police are providing the prizes. In today’s assembly I shared some ideas with the children. The closing date for the competition is Monday 8th May.

End of Term Celebrations

Dear Families
We have had a wonderful last week of term with many celebrations. 23 of our children achieved 100% in the Hunningley Maths Challenge and spent an afternoon searching for Easter eggs in the wood. Today Classes 3 and 7 were rewarded with some baking time for having the best attendance this half-term. Allan Ahlberg won the housepoint reward and enjoyed an afternoon of activities on the field.
We are so proud of the achievements of all our children. I hope you all have a lovely Easter.

Times Table Fortune Tellers

The children have been working really hard to learn their maths facts. Times tables, as always are where they struggle. I have been making Times Table Fortune Tellers with some of the children and they have really loved using them to practise their maths facts. Print them off to have a go at home.
